Summertime Status Report

Recently, we had several days in a row that the weather was 101 degrees with humidity to match. I have decided to ignore the, "heat index" and bury my head in the proverbial sand because knowledge of how hot I am supposed to feel makes me kind of cranky. (Hey, if I actually buried my head in the sand do you think I would feel cooler?)

The other day Evan went outside to, as he puts it, "shoot some hoops" and came in about 10 minutes later grabbing his chest and sweating like he was about to suffer a heart attack.

The next day Adam asked Evan to go play baseball with him and Evan told him it was WAY too hot outside. I had to chuckle to myself when Adam protested loudly telling Evan, "It isn't even that hot outside!!! It is only supposed to be 90 today!!".

When we aren't hanging out at the pool we can be found trying to drown, or blind each other with the garden hose...
Here is Adam trying to blast Brian out of his hiding place
We hope you are having a great summer and are staying cool, too! ☺
Evan: 10 years and 11 months old, Adam: 7 years and 11 months old, Brian: 5 years and 1 month old.

OK, this sooooo reminds me of my boys. They would much rather play with the sprayer on the hose than ANYTHING else. The umbrella is a genius idea, they would love that, too!
Sorry it's soooo miserably hot.

It has been 105 here, but NO humidity, thank HEAVENS!

Humidity is not my friend.

When I lived in North Carolina I thought I would DIE from the humidity! No.... seriously.

DIE.

Adam's t-shirt says it all: "SO MUCH FUN."

I hope you are able to stay cool. Humidity makes everything feel hotter. You could always join in on the boys' water fight :)

We are staying a cool 74 degrees. Hasn't been much of a summer vacation for us yet. I filled up the pool on our first 80 degree day and the girls wouldn't go near it becuase it was too cold.

I do remember 101 plus humidity when we lived in Fargo, get yourself some lemonade and lots of ice sister!

Looks alot like our house!
It is soooo hot!!
We're having a BBQ at our new house on the 28th, if you guys can come.
I miss you guys, and Andy misses you too. I think he is adjusting to his new class, but he comes home every week and says he had another new teacher. I hope they find someone permanent soon.

What cute boys you have.
Love the umbrella...smart boy.
It is scorching here too.

Heat + Humidity = Misery

Hope you stay cool!

No humidity in my neck of the woods. I feel miserable just thinking about that.

Boys and a garden hose, isn't that what it's all about?

It hasn't been that hot here, but we've pulled out the old slip and slide a few times already. And, I've already gotten my first sunburn of the year. Sigh. The hose looks fun though...I might have to soak my kids later today! :)

we are just now stating to get some nice weather. it was actually 70 degrees yesterday and sunny! i really think that we missed our spring and are finally getting some nice weather. hopefully we will be able to enjoy more of it.

i served my mission in san antonio, texas and that hot humidity is a killer!! i don't envy you that sticky, sweaty weather! stay cool ! your boys have the right idea with that hose!!

Wow, and I thought it was hot here! The highest we've gotten this week was 99, but then it rained... Maybe that's what you need! A good 5 degree break in the weather due to rain... (Does 5 degrees actually make a difference when it's that hot, though?!)

Thank goodness for water hoses and tough boys. I love the pictures!!

I love clever kids. Sounds like a good summer so far! Well, except for the humidity. But think how much younger our skin will look in 20 years!

Yeah, I just think of summer here being like winter in Minnisota or something. We swap seasons and do all our outdoor playing in the other three seasons. The only thing we do outside nowdays is get into the air conditioned car or go swimming. I treat the heat like we are "snowed-in".

I feel your pain.

I love the pic when Brian is spraying his brothers and his expression is "what? what's wrong?"

I want to join them. We are having a heat wave in san Diego, I am dying!!!!!

It is time for you to come and visit Liberty Lake... the weather here is beautiful :) Of course we paid in advance with snow earlier this month... LOL

As if 102 is not bad enough without adding humidity??!! I swear that humidity is the hardest thing to get used to! 90 sounds awesome until you figure out it feels like 110.

Looks like your boys have found a great way to keep cool...anything with water!!

108 today. The good old summertime.

I love how you always put their ages, that is brillianT! Where's the pic of you playing with them? They'll want to remember that too! (You need to start sticking a finger in every pic so they'll know you were there!)

Since you have photo issues ;D

Ahhh...the joys of summer. Come join us in Phoenix real soon, OK?

I am convinced that hell is not only hot but very humid too. Because who likes humidity?

That umbrella is ginormous!

Good luck surviving that heat.

We are desperately trying to stay cool! The AC is broken in our home AGAIN! Our Landlords are finnally going to cough up the dough to have it fixed for good sometime this week.

Nortorious said...

The best part of summer is definitely spraying your kids with the hose. I can't even help it. It's hilarious and they SO deserve it.

Amber said...

Sounds like you are battling the heat just marvelously? As fo rme if it was that hot for that long? This woosy Canuck would not leave the house!!!!

Aleasha said...

calibosmom said...

My kids were doing this exact thing the other day...nothing like an umbrella and the hose.

Kristin said...

Man girlfriend, that is hot!!! We haven't reached over 85 yet, but we are headed to Florida this weekend, we will be hot enough soon enough.

Christy and Kevin said...

Yes, you would be MUCH cooler buried in the sand.

chrissy said...

Just looking at those pictures makes me feel cooler!

I can handle the heat. Really, I can. I grew up in New Mexico, so I'm use to it.

But I DON'T DO HUMID. It's great for your skin and all, but blech.

Anderson Zoo Keepers said...

It's crazy to me how radically different the temps are around this country. I just got back from Texas where it was HOT and HUMID and parched and up here in Washington we're peaking at like 70 degrees. Bizarre. Gotta say though, I'm liking the 70 degrees right now.

Hollyween said...

Levi thinks he's seriously going to DIE in the heat!

But your kids look like they're having a ball.

Sharon said...

Is the Pool you guys are hitting the Y? Are you guys still members? Just think how lucky we are out here. I was in AZ last Sat with temps of 117!

Suzanne said...

Uh, yeah, that is hot. I definitely don't miss the humidity of Georgia. (That's about all I don't miss). Your kids are growing up! I can't believe how old Brian looks. Time flies.
