I have been wanting to do an update series about each member of the family for a while, now...but it seems that every time I sit down to the computer to update, I stare at the screen and my brain shuts down. I'm pulling the, "forgetful pregnancy brain" card...even though anyone who knows me in real life, knows that I have had problems...uh, what was I gonna to say?...oh, yeah...I have had problems concentrating for years.
.
So...this post will be the first of a series of updates that I am going to post in increments...
.Without further ado...and before my brain shuts down...
.Let's start with Mike:
.Mike has been busy with work, supporting us all in the manner that we have become accustomed (I mean, somebody has to support the air conditioning bill that I am single-handedly trying to triple). He is also busy with church and working on our garden. He built these, well...I don't know what you would call them, "structures" for the peas to climb up as the vines grow. I told him I thought that they were highly impressive. I asked him how he knew how to create them and he said, "Uh...I dunno...I just kind of did it." Well...I think they are lovely.

.
The sad part is (well, the word, "sad" is kind of relative...it depends on how you look at it)...
.
...one of our boys accidentally knocked over one of the structures after the peas had successfully began to climb the strings.
.
Now, to protect the feelings of the pea structure wrecking child, I can only tell you that his name rhymes with Shmadam...and that he was deeply sorry. I was fixing dinner when Shmadam came in bawling about how he had accidentally knocked the, "pea thing that Dad built" over with his leg. As best I can surmise, he was running through the garden and tried not to trample a row of growing plants by dodging quickly to his right and managed to trip over the edge of the structure.
.
Mike was very patient about the whole situation and only said, "Well, that one was kind of leaning to the side, anyway." (You can see in the second picture that it did have a little bit of a lean to it.)
.
Don't tell Mike this, but I am thinking of slipping Shmadam some cash as a reward for decreasing the tedious work of our pea harvesting efforts in the heat of the Georgia summer. I am not such a great gardener. Feel free to nickname me, "Mother Earth" if you like.
.
So...that's all I have for now...basically because I have already had to go to the bathroom twice since I began composing this post. I'll be back...(awwwwww, saying, "I'll be back" made me think of my brother Frank...whenever you say to him that you'll, "be back" or, "I'll see you, later" he replies dryly, "Thanks for the warning."
.
So...I'll be back...consider yourselves warned...

I still enjoy reading your posts. Even with the "Pregnancy Brain". I totally know what that is like. Too bad mine never really went back to normal. :)
How do you manage to make a story about pea structures the best thing that's happened to me today? It's a gift, I'll wait breathlessly for you to follow through with your promise of more!
As fabulous as my husband is, and as hard as he tries, if my kids had knocked over a creation as magnificent as the Pea Palace...he WOULD NOT have reacted with:
Well, that one was kind of leaning to the side, anyway.
His reaction would have involved yelling and fuming and children crying.
Really. I kind of think your Mike is a saint.
I love your pea thingy's...they add a certain...oh...I don't know...harvest feeling to your backyard. Tell your Shamadam that he is lucky that he has such a patient and loving dad, I think Aric would have freaked out.
Very nice pea "structures." Your garden is huge, I'm jealous! Although I know what you mean about the harvest time thing. And poor Shmadam... (knocking down the pea thing, that sounds like something my Shmadam would do! Maybe there's something magical in the name...)
wow! that man of your is pretty handy to have around! and his reaction was perfect! i don't know too many dad's that would react like that, but more should!
And then menopause takes any memory you have left.
What a great guy you have. I can't wait for the update on everyone else.
I'm impressed with his mad pea-contraption-thing building skizzles!
I feel ya with the gardening/weeding aspect of it, though. My first tiny little pea plants pushed up today. I was excited until I realized that it means I actually have to start going out there and WORKING and stuff. Yuck.
Why are the words "pea structure" so stinkin' funny to me??
Poor Shmadam.
Ah the Pregnancy Brain. Just get worse with each pregnancy huh?
Love Diane's warning.
Oh how I love you, dear Lauren! You are such a crack up!!! And I shall call you mother earth!
Now I think I should plant some peas in my garden.
I can't wait until my boys try to climb the trellis we construct.
Perhaps barbed wire should be added to the perimeter of our planter boxes...
Oh. My. Gosh. Your husband's pea thingy is my husband's pumpkin obsession. I think they would be great friends. :-)
Lovely structures! Gotta love a man who gardens. And send me some of those fresh garden peas, would'ja?!
And...pregnant??? What the? Wee-haaa!!! Congratulations! I really need to get reading my fav blogs again! I'll be back tomorrow, to stalk you as you deserve :)
