Pregnant with Evan in 1997. I am about 7 months along in these two pictures. Gee...it is kind of amazing how much younger a girl can look in a nearly 12 year old picture.

Ready to deliver Adam in 2000. I remember the doctor being slightly concerned about the amount of fluid I was carrying toward the end of Adam's pregnancy. I was able to leave a dent (that would disappear in a few minutes) in my ankles if I pushed on them. Oh, sorry...that wasn't pleasant to read, was it?
I love how Evan is kissing my belly in this picture. Or, maybe I accidentally knocked him in the head with my enormous girth before he had the chance to move.

Ready to deliver Brian in 2003. I really must say it was a BOLD fashion choice to wear horizontal stripes at that stage of pregnancy. Why did I do that? I have no answer...the world may never know.

So...after I showed my sweet Brian all of these pictures I waited for his response...knowing that he would be moved by the sight of me ready to deliver him. I knew my efforts would result in the bonding moment that I was hoping for...
He looked at each picture and then said dryly...
"So, when you are pregnant, you just get big and fat."
It was more of a statement than a question.
You know, they say hindsight is 20/20...
I could have responded with 1 of the following quips...
- Yeah, Brian...your momma gets so fat when she is pregnant she has to use the driveway to iron her maternity pants.
2. You know, my little cherub...you were 10 pounds and 3 ounces when you were born...so if we are going to "lay blame" as to why Mommy was "big and fat" as you so eloquently put it...you little...
.jpg)
(My 10 pound 3 ounce little cherub, Brian, on the day of his birth. He kind of looked like a lumberjack next to some of the other babies in the nursery)
Or
3. Run Brian...before Mommy EATS you, and everything else withing a 3 mile radius...
But, I didn't really have a quick comeback that day...
So...I sighed heavily and responded...
"Yeah, Brian...when you're pregnant you just get big and fat."
Now, I have a secret to tell you...
Lean in closer so I can whisper...
Closer.....
Oh, oh....too close *back up*, *back up*...
*Phew* that's better...
You see...I started this pregnancy at a heavier start weight than any of my others...
I won't be surprised if my flesh really does tear...

So, did Brian walk out during his delivery?
I had some seriously ugly maternity clothes back in the 80's. Giant collars with bows and stuff.
Kids are brutal. You are funny.
I love how blunt kids are! This last pregnancy with Preston was the most I have every weighed. So, don't feel too bad.
You are a cute preggo!! You need to post a preggo pic for this pregnancy.
I am laughing so hard I can hardly see through the tears. I love all of your faux responses and I think you should've used ALL of them!
I see nothing wrong with big and fat. It happens to everyone. Do you know what you are having yet? Jessica and I are dying to know!
Best line ever: Using the driveway to iron your maternity pants. Bwaaahhhh! Laughing at the visual, though I certainly could have used that tip when I was pregnant myself.
Men just don't get it. Even little men.
You are funny. I'm with Christie. Males are not allowed to make pregnancy comments. Even if they are so small and so cute.
you looked divine in the horizontal stripes! I cannot wait until brian has a wife.... he will suddently get it... boys.... (and yours are just so darn cute... I love the things that come out of his mouth!!)
and just think, with more babies comes more "truth." thanks babies.
HILARIOUS!!
All I know, it that you are BEAUTIFUL pregnant!!!
Please move back so that you can complete your set of pictures in front of the hospital.
You wear pregnancy well! And don't worry, if the flesh tears off you will loose a couple of pounds. Love ya!
I remember coming home after I had John and Frankie patting my tummy and asking me if I had another baby in there. Kids are just tooo funny. I love you, doll! Kiss all your men for me.
Aren't you glad we will have perfect bodies in the next life? I sure am. Gotta love those big fat brains in our kids heads! Too funny! I just had to retype bodies-the first time I accidentally spelled boobies (although, they will be perfect too)
Oh Lauren you are a hoot! I love your prego pictures. They are all wonderful. Yes mommies get big and fat and have serious fashion issues when they are pregnant but it is all worth it!
Thank 10pound chunky monkey is to die for!
I love how you give me every detail to make me feel like I am there! But, if I was really there I would have had a great comeback for you!
You make me laugh hard.
But still? You are really cute. And so is your chubby little cherub. I have fairly big babies too. I like them big and cuddly.
You crack me up! I really wish we could live close to eachother now that I'm older and appreciate you so much more! You are adorable. Man, Adam would have smothered my 4 lb 9 oz Kaili, that's for sure!
For a brief moment, I thought this might be a post about episiotomy. So glad you chose a different direction!
Like Paige, I am dying to know...pink? or blue?
Spill it on what kind of baby you are having, all the blogaunties need to know!!!
You are really beautiful, really. And yes you are bold, marvelously so!!
I think you look cute prenant. But I know what you mean. Pregnancy can be quite hard on our bodies. If the babies weren't so darn worth it...
oh, how i have missed my dear friend lauren! are are adorable! love your posts and by the way, you look awesome!!!!
For the record:
This is my favorite blog. You ALWAYS makes me laugh.
I love these pregnant photos! You look beautiful, seriously. I always avoided cameras like the plague when I was pregnant... but I regret it now... I guess because my girls are sentimental & now want to see photos of me, when they were in my tummy.
Hey, when do you find out the gender?
Don't kids just make you feel GREAT about yourself. My little 19 month old (bless his heart) has started grunting loudly when he bends over to pick up his toys and sometimes walks with his hands on his back.....do I really look that pathetic???
I like the move before I eat you option!
And I am of the belief that ALL pregnant women are beautiful. The miracle of birth and the havoc it wreaks on our bodies are the badges of honor we EARN!
I love all the pregnant pictures! And it cracks me up how blunt kids can be. Well, if I'm being honest I guess I'd say in the moment it makes me feel like a loser and cry, then later it cracks me up...
No lie. When I saw 1997, I thought it said 1977. And then I thought how miraculous it is that you're still able to get pregnant. :-)
