Me, Paranoid? Who Wants to Know?

That's right predators...be very afraid. Hmmmm? Maybe I should have just taken a Monday morning picture of myself without Brian's mask? That would have been much more terrifying.

Our 5th Sunday lesson at church yesterday was about Internet safety. I quickly realized that it wasn't the best idea to have our last name emblazoned on the top of our blog. I had given it some thought prior to yesterday's lesson, but I thought to myself that nobody would want to come after a 38 year old, overweight, housewife and "Mommy Blogger" from Georgia. What I hadn't taken into consideration was that predators might be very interested in the comings and goings of my boys. So, I have renamed the blog to, "• A Work in Progress •".

I considered calling our blog, "Hokies in Georgia" because that title sums up our little family quite well. I also considered calling the blog, "Stay AWAY From My Kids You Filthy Predators or I Will Hunt You Down and Kick You in The Teeth and Beat You About the Head as You Truly Deserve."

What do you think?

I like the second title. Some of my posts have more info than others...sometimes I worry, sometimes I don't. Mostly I think that most predators are less likely to stalk a blog then go after them in some other way...like IM's and chat rooms. Why waste time on a blog when there are so many unsupervised children in those chat rooms? But, I agree, my blog name and title do not have our last name in it. And make sure that you take your blog out of the public search engines...

Love the bug mask!! You will difinitely scare off the predators with that!

I don't care what you call your blog as long as you have that picture of you in that mask on the front page-that is hilarious! That definately tells all preditors not to mess with this mama bear! Rrrrr! What a great Sunday lesson topic-not your usual ho hum lesson. You must have a smart Bishop!

Awesome. That lesson made me want to barf. You're going to have to change your address too though.

I came home thinking the same thing. And spent a few minutes speculating what might have prompted the stake to encourage such a lesson.
I think I might just set my blog to private. And never buy my daughter a cell phone or let her use the computer, ever. Such a hard line to walk!
I would definetely be scared off by the mask.

You have absolutely gorgeous eyes. Gorgeous.

I'm not a predator, and I try hard not to be filthy. And I would totally be afraid of you.

haha I love the last title! I would die laughing if you used that even just for a day :) But seriously Hokies in Georgia is a good title! It's so sad that it's gotten to the point that we have to think about such little stuff like that to keep our families safe.

I love the picture by the way, hilarious!

Ditto what everyone said about your lovely eyes!!

You know what? Internet safety is important. But if someone wants to find out anything they want about you, they will. I mean take precautions but you also can't be paranoid and worry about it constantly. I didn't recognize your blog when it showed up in my reader. SO I am glad I read your post anyway! ;)

That picture cracks me up! You look like Hannibal Lecter's wife! Your eyes are such a beautiful brown though, its distracting to the "I want to kill you look."

I also don't mention my last name. And I made my blog unsearchable on the internet. It is a scary world out there but I try to tell myself I'm doing what I can.

So sad we even have to worry about this kind of stuff. I love all the titles! And even in the mask, I can tell that you have very beautiful brown eyes!

Honestly, I am proud/surprised this bit of paranoia has not leaked out of you yet...so congrats on the progress. :-) (You know I mean business if I attach an emoticon)

Love the picture! I've been thinking of changing mine to private too. Why take the chance! I only caught half of the lesson & I started getting paranoid!

That picture is sooooo hilarious! I needed a good giggle this morning. I hate that we have to be so paranoid but such is the times that we live in...

Oh and that second title is awesome! And you are pretty.

i wrote a big post on this very thing, where i ended up stalking one of our blog friend'd kids to prove a point. i knew the first and last name, town, state, elementary school, general schedule of activities, favorite restaurant, etc. we put a lot of info on our blogs... it's best to do it as vaguely as possible. good call here, lauren. you did the right thing.

and yeah, serious bedroom eyes. no wonder you're knocked up again.

I have to agree with everyone else's comments. Amazing eyes. The prd-tors will be after the hot prego mama . . . and not after your kids.

i love the photo! hilarious! and what is that mask for anyways?

NO LIE. Before I even read that post, I was like, WHERE IS THE HEADER? AM I IN THE RIGHT PLACE?

No preference on titles or names, just so long as you keep your glorious content the same. :-)

You can actually change the address of your blog too and keep everything intact. Of course, then you have to email all friends and acquaintances (like me) and inform them of your new address, but it might be worth the time.
