Does anyone else have to deal with this sort of behavior on. a. daily. basis? Is it a common occurrence in your home to hear the father of your children yell, "Ohhhhh, it's on now...and there's gonna be pain!" as your 3 thrilled children dogpile him happily? On your way to the kitchen, do you have to step over a mass of flailing body parts as you exit the family room? Are several of the lamps in your home crooked because they were somehow knocked over during a raucous display of hand to hand combat?

(Above is an example of Mike's specialty: The Inhumane Tickle)

I was just curious.

Oh yes, yes, and YES! Even Lizzie gets in on it.
The best part? Your boys will have the BEST memories of wrestling with their dad.
Good, good dad!!!
This is why people need basements.
I know that is a big part of being boy, but buffoonery after 4 p.m. makes me insane!
And then it's cute when you hear their uncontrollable giggles, until the screaming begins...
Ah, boys!
hourly. HOURLY basis.
Okay, we are definitely way too boring around our house! Our kids do this all the time, but the parents...not so much. You have given me something to aspire to. I mean, I have three boys, too!
Lucky boys! My hubby is not a roll-on-the-floor tickle war kind of guy. He's a white shirt & tie serious Dad, almost all of the time. Sometimes it's a bummer, but my lamps are safer for it.
However, the big boys wrestle too often for my taste. That 60 lbs, and 3 years of varsity wrestling Big B has on his bro, cause all kinds of pain and suffering. Oh yeah, it's all fun and games, until somebody breaks their neck. Just don't come cryin' to me! LOL!
I don't really have this problem. Probably because I have girls. I mean, Ryan does get down on the floor and play with them, but it is not nearly as rough as boys wrestling.
Your husband is a great Dad to get into it with them!
Must be a boy dad thing? Or a dad that isn't addicted to his iphone thing? Looks like fun, as soon as you leave the room I bet it gets even more fun.
At least Evan had the good sense to wear his football shirt to the game.
My daughter and I are laughing as we read this post. We've got some great wrestlers over here too. But no one can pin their dad.
Uh...I have girls. Aric chases them around the house and they squeal. Never do they engage unless Eden wants him to stop and then she runs into him full force yelling "no more daddy!"
Sounds like fun though!
I think that's a boy thing. All I ever hear when Daddy is home is lots of shrieking.
All I have to say is that i am so glad that I don't have any boys... Could you imagine me in Mike's spot when Keyth is away..?
As soon at Matt hits the door it happens. We knew it was getting a little bad when Adam (our baby at 15 months) would join in and actually take people down.
Wow, Mike really gets into it! :) So fun. Our boys love wrestling too. All day. Every day. I say calm down but I don't even think they know how! Recently Adam even tried to get Sarah in on it... Oh, that's gonna be one tough girl!
YOu are NOT alone!
Watching Kendon wrestle with my kiddos (even the girls) is one of my favorite things! Such a happy sight and sound!!!
LOve the pics!
My son prefers swords and footballs-but it seems like they always end up on the ground in a tickle fight eventually. Lenna get sin on it too, I am afraid they are going ot break her one of these times.
Boys need good dads like that!
LOVE IT! Crooked lamps and all! This is us except throw a girl in the middle. My Hannah is fierce!
How great that you have a hubby that is so fun loving that he would bring on the pain! :0)
I totally get it!
Same here.
The bright side: You don't have to pay for entertainment.
It is provided for you FREE on a daily basis.
Looks like lots of fun!
Basically, I read this post and I think:
Lucky you.
Lucky boys.
I agree with Annemarie. My favorite memories are of wrestling with my dad when he was young and agile. A very very long time ago!
A friend who has all boys says, "When they are wrestling...they are just hugging horizontally!"
I'm amazed you have any furniture at all!
Um, your husband is my husband's long lost twin. They do that EVERY SINGLE DAY.
At least our husbands love our kids, right?
holy cow! 22 comments! you are SOOO popular!!!
i love that you took pictures of this. i just love it. i think this is what makes a great relationship between a child and a parent. good ol' fashioned wrestling... as long as the parent wins! :)
Lauren, honestly, sometimes I just think, "Wow, 3 boys is so different than 3 girls." I grew up with 4 brothers & I was such a rough and tumble scratched up kid. Now I live the princess life where even a teasing gesture from Daddy while playing a Polar Express board game can erupt into full sobs, "Daddy's playing mean!!!"... and you know Paul... how could he EVER be tagged as "mean?"
Your house sounds like so much fun... you all have the best sense of humor!
I just read your comment on my blog about your son wanting to pack his bags because of the Batman party. I just wanted to inform you that if my son saw your son's Batman bed, he'd already be on a plane! :)
It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye.
Yes-- Jax loves to wrestle, but it is only fun for the girls until they get hurt- which is usutally within 30 seconds or so.
When you have a 6 year old wearing size 12, wrestling can be a very bad thing.... :)
HAHAHAHA! I Love these!! It looks like so much fun.
What is it about being a dad that allows you to win no matter how many kids are jumping on you....?
Nobody around here wrestles anymore, because of my five year old. He goes straight for the crotch every time...
Every night is Jump on Daddy night. Present company included. It spares me, after all. :-)
Lauren, I am just amazed at the amount of friends you have!! I love the new layout and pictures.
This make me miss my boys!
Yes! And I love it and take pictures, just like you!
um. yes. i think its a schwartz thing. your fault. i blame you entirely;-)
Oh, to live in a house with all boys! I can't even imagine it, looks like fun though.
You are so outnumbered. I'm too OCD to have my kids do this stuff. I have heart palpatations when a pillow is knocked off the couch. You are a great mom/wife!
I love reading your blogs...but NOPE...violence is not appropriate in my home (it stinks how you can't convey sarcasm on a blog comment- but I totally try)
On a serious note- wrestling with dad is actually proven to be an awesome boundary learning, self-esteem building, respect for parents teaching, blah blah blah experience for kids...especially boys. If you'd like to know.
You rock Lauren!
Yes, we have this but with only three bodies instead of four.
It is sad when Dad is out of town and the kids have me to play with. I am not that fun.
