The pre-school that Brian attends has started sending homework home several times a week. It would be an understatement to say that Brian is thrilled to have homework, just like his big brothers. Last night, as Brian was working on his homework he said to all of us firmly, "I need you to be quiet. I'm sinking about my homework." Then, he tapped his pencil against his temple with a serious look of concentration on his face. So I, of course, had to take a picture of Brian, "The Thinker" or parenthetically titled, as he would pronounce it, (The Sinker). He has been hearing his brothers tell him that he needs to be quiet so they could complete their homework for as long as he can remember so, I guess that Brian feels that telling others around him to be quiet is an integral part of the homework completion process. It made me laugh when I saw his look of concentration...so serious...so determined...even while wearing a Batman outfit and covered in green ink from stamping himself, instead of his paper during pre-school earlier that day. (His teacher was very concerned about Brian having decorated himself. I told her that I would talk to him about only stamping paper next time. I wanted to help her feel more at ease about it, and express that I wasn't angry, so I tried to handle the situation with humor and said, "Oh, you know Brian...he's into body art." She looked at me strangely and said in a serious tone, "You shouldn't say that...you know the kind of people that get tattoos." Okay lady, lighten up... sheesh. Anyway, I disturbed Brian when I snapped the first picture, but then I got this one...
Okay...nothing more to see here people...let's get serious, and let Brian get back to work.

Hi! I'm Nicole's friend. She pointed me here a few weeks ago and I've been lurking for a little while. But now, here I am, commenting.
Cute sinker. How do my kids channel his kind of dedication to academics?
PS Forget Geoff, pretty great Nic is out, huh?
Awesome tats dude. You should let him draw on his face with sharpie before school. I am sure his teacher would like that. Maybe a "serious" mustache our a beatnik goatee.
I do know the kind of people that get tattoos...hmmmm...you should have just showed her the one on your left buttocks! Brian is so adorable!! Love ya!
Stephanie... you are a hag! I do not have a tattoo on my left buttocks! It's on my right buttocks.
Mom...if you read that I just want you to know that I am totally kidding. But, I stand by my statement that Stephanie is a hag.
I can't believe your little Brian is old enough for preschool! Let alone serious thinking! I loved reading your comments on Amy's blog out loud to Bryce and we would laugh together. Now I have the privilege of enjoying your comments on our blog! Of course I remember you! Remember when every time you would call me for enrichment or whatever you'd say, "hi, this is Lauren from church," and I'd always laugh at you? Anyway, see you on the blog.
Ok, fixed it. You do great detective work!
Oh the Blacksburg ward was fun wasn't it? I really miss it and miss you too Lauren. Of course I remember you!! I especially remember when you picked me up and we went to Amy's crop in Radford and I forgot all my paper and you so kindly lent me your car and I never repaid you. I am sorry about that. I meant so many times to give you money for gas. I am surprised you still think of me. I got the belated Christmas card you sent a while ago. I cannot believe how grown up your boys are. I remmber Mia and Brian playing in church when they were just crawling. I think he tried to beat her up a few times. She would probaly try to hold his hand now. She is already a bit boy crazy and in love with her older cousin, her friends older brother and the boy at Baskin Robbins from Monday night. She's a friendly girl with the boys. She is still going to marry Parker Grames from BB. Do you remember them? Anyway, of course, comment on my blog and I am so excited to read yours and keep in touch. I am not that great at keeping it up but such is life. You must be loving that all your boys are in school now. I do evny you! Well take care. Lori
That little stinker "sinker" is adorable. Levi thinks he's awesome with his homework. And I despise kindergarten homework. And if I hate it now, I'm totally doomed, aren't I? Poor Levi.
My child needs a batman shirt like that.
I have yet to meet a child under ten who doesn't love coloring on themselves. How long has that teacher been teaching preschool, like three minutes?
Oh, I would have loved for you to have a big, scary tatoo and whip it out right at that moment. Anything to shove her foot right in her mouth where it belongs.
Adorable sinker, anyway!
My mom would get so angry if we ever drew on our arms. I thought it was unfair. I guess I didn't get a tatoo so perhaps all her anger did pay off.
Glad to see him so dedicated to his homework. There is a kid who will take care of you in retirement years.
I DO know the kinds of people that get tattoos...yikes! Welcome back to "gawga, y'all!"
There's a lady in my ward who doesn't allow fake tatoos due to the real tatoo commandment.
So don't show her.
I will kill myself if our preschool starts homework next year. Yikes.
and exactly what kind of people doooo get tattoos????? He looks like Adam!! and if preschool EVER starts sending homework, i am bailing so frickin fast....
i DO know the kinds of people who get tattoos... gosh... you should not let your children associate with them. besides, what kind of an aunt would send her nephews temporary tattoos with their names on them?! you mustn't let your children associate with her!!
(although i AM the cool aunt ;)
